I have the honour to inform you that I

have found it necessary to consider in Executive Council

certain charges of alcoholism which were brought against Mr,

J. J. McMichael, Sanitary Inspector, by the Sanitary Board.

The case was dealt with in accordance with Colonial Regula-

tions Nos. 83 to 94, and in accordance with the advice of my

Executive Council (in which I concurred) I have caused Mr.

McMichael to be informed that he is suspended from the exercise

of his duties with effect on and from the 8th. instant, and

will cease from that date to draw any emolaments from the

Government.

I enclose a copy of the list of charges,

letters to and from Mr. McMichael, and an extract from the

minutes of the Meeting of Executive Council held on the 6th.

instant, and have the honour to submit for your consideration

that Mr. McMichael be dismissed from the Service.

In his letter of the 23rd. instant you

will observe that Mr. McMichael states that he had hoped that

his case had been already dealt with by the Sanitary Board,

by whom he was reprimanded. The Board however had been given

no authority to deal finally with the case, and I considered
